Since the New York Yankees won the World Series last night, we might as well put one of their players in the spotlight. Iím no fan of the Yankees though, so this post will be brief ;-)

A.J. Burnett is a right-handed pitcher with a nice curve ball. He was born Allan James Burnett on January 3, 1977, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Originally drafted by the New York Mets in 1995, A.J. went on to play for the Florida Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays. He signed with the Yankees a year ago. Last week he made his World Series debut in Game 2 against the Philadelphia Phillies, which the Yanks won, then started Game 5 as well.

Anyone here related to A.J.? One genetic if not genealogical tidbit is that heís been diagnosed with Gilbertís disease, a rare but benign genetic defect in bile uptake. (Isnít it scary what one can find on the internet?!)

Hereís a link to A.J.ís baseball stuff only:

*former HOB Board of Directors member*
Descendant of William Burnett (1734-1818) & Margret
of Ballylummin, County Antrim, in the North of Ireland
