The 2009 Burnett Gathering - Fettercairn Distillery Tour
Fettercairn Distillery In the afternoon, we were given a guided tour of the Fettercairn Distillery which was initially created by Sir Alexander Ramsay, grandson of Sir Thomas Burnett of Leys, 6th Baronet, to help combat illicit distilling by converting an old corn mill into a distillery. The Fettercairn Distillery is now owned by Whyte and MacKay of Glasgow and is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Time was also spent in the distillery shop and we were shown an excellent video on the whisky making process. We returned to Banchory via the Cairn o Mounth, the highest public road in Britain
