The House of Burnett is a non-profit international Scottish family association whose mission is to provide opportunities for all Burnetts to engage in community, learn about their Scottish heritage, and explore their ancestry.

We are an illustrious family with deep roots, a proud heritage in Scotland, America, and all over the world.  We have been blessed for many years with fantastic leadership through our Immediate Past President and Lieutenant, Jackelyn Daugherty, our Lieutenant, Jim Burnette, our Board, and our Chief, James C. A. Burnett of Leys. Terry Burnett of Columbia, South Carolina is the new President and he is excited to continue the work so many before have provided in leading the House of Burnett since its founding more than forty years ago.

The full list of Board Members is at the foot of this message.

If you are not a member of the House if Burnett, you are cordially invited to join.  Dues for new members a mere $10 for the first year, a very modest $20 per year thereafter, and are used exclusively to support our mission.  There is also a Lifetime Membership option.  The House of Burnett helps fund our participation in many highland games and festivals, support educational and cultural activities surrounding our Scottish heritage such as support for highland dancers, musicians and athletes, and provide recognition of the historical contributions of Burnetts, such as a grave monument for “Justice Jim” Burnett in Tombstone, AZ.

Besides funding participation at dozens of highland games, your dues will enable the House to explore and create new ways for members to learn and connect with each other through some exciting social media projects such as more robust offerings on the House of Burnett website (, our Facebook page (, and our Twitter account (,  We have also just launched an Instagram account, and we plan to begin hosting some livestream events featuring presentations by highland dancers, musicians, and athletes, as well as genealogy discussions and presentations by and about famous Burnetts.

Our past is illustrious, and our future is bright!  So, if you are not a member, please join!  Membership is easy and is available for individuals of the name BURNETT, BURNET, BURNETTE, BARNET, BARNETT, BARNETTE, BERNIT, BERNAT, BURNAP, MACBURNET, or other spelling variation; married to a BURNETT; or descended from a BURNETT in either the male or female line. If you are a past or current member, stay engaged and involved with your dues, and increased involvement.  Contact Terry Burnett at if you have ideas, news, want to serve, or would like a hard copy Membership Form.  Come be part of the greatest Scottish Family Association on earth!
