BISHOP GILBERT BURNETT’S TOMB

Readers may recall something I wrote recently about the tomb of Gilbert Burnett, Bishop of Salisbury. I said that I had been to St James’s Church in Clerkenwell Green in the centre of London and failed to find anything related to the Bishop. The portrait above is in the British Museum

My good friend Gordon Caseley, heraldic expert, piper, press contributor and possessor of a wealth of knowledge of all things related to our history and heraldry, has come to my rescue. He recently visited the church and sent these pictures to me.

Whether or not readers are interested in the Bishop, I recommend a visit to Clerkenwell Green
